Eagles fan-favorite Zach Ertz returns to Philly amid injury concerns on offense
Zach Ertz returns to the Philadelphia Eagles after Dallas Goedert's MCL sprain, sitting just 11 catches from the franchise's all-time receptions record.
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman needed immediate help.
Goedert is expected to miss several weeks, and the depth chart behind him was looking like a ghost town.
Before packing his bags in 2021, Ertz spent nine seasons acting as an automatic third-down conversion machine in Philadelphia. He sits second in franchise history with 579 catches. He needs just 11 more receptions to pass Hall of Fame receiver Harold Carmichael's record of 589 and become the Eagles' all-time leader in catches.
Stashing Ertz on the practice squad gives him time to handle conditioning before an expected elevation to the 53-man active roster.
